The Majestic Moon
by Girija Sridhar
Silently in the night SKY, shines the elusive FULL Moon,
Gliding along majestically, it vanishes oh too soon!
Sometimes behind some CLOUDS, sometimes in view for miles,
Mysteriously hide and seek she will PLAY, WITH MONA LISA smiles.
Wrapped in her shimmering gown she peers and sees,
The enchanting vision of silvery fruits UP ON the silver trees.
Many a child in childish craze, wants the Moon UP in the SKY,
The indulgent mother reveals its reflection to CALM his mounting cry.
She adorns the night SKY KING, as she is QUEEN of beauty,
ON Earth she receives PRAISE SKY high, as the utmost purity.
The young in LOVE has FOREVER likened the Moon to his beloved,
Making poetic promises, of fulfilling the vows held so sacred.
How she does BEAM grandly, looking DOWN at our Earth,
The speechless mortals look UP in AWE, from their homely hearth!
