Calm a Crying Baby
Repeat LOVE-LOVE-LOVE over and over for 5-10 minutes. (Helps a child feel secure and loved, usually has a near immediate calming effect.)
Repeat BE-BE-BE-BE over and over for 5-10 minutes. This has been found to work amazingly well when a child is not feeling well.
Use BLUFF-COVER to calm from a frightening experience.
For a fever: Though not Switchwords, rubbing the temples (sides of head next to eyes) for 20-30 seconds will take away the feverish feeling while allowing the body to fight the infection. A fever is the body's first line of defense against invasion. Taking down the fever unnecessarily may extend the illness.

What People are Saying about Mother's Helper Switchwords
May 7, 2011 (From Blue Iris Forum)
Hi Kat,
I've printed out Mother's Helper Switchwords and have a copy in my kitchen. The other morning my granddaughters 4ys. and 3yrs. were having a spat over crayons or paint or something. The older one was heated up and took herself off to the bedroom and shut the door. It was time to leave for school and the two at odds with each other. Found END-SHUT on the list started saying it aloud and went to the door and said it softly. After a few minutes I entered the room and the older child was writing an apology note to her younger sister. She wrote I love you and the initials I M S, asked what that meant : I M (am) S (sorry). She wrote her sister's name and LOVE in a heart. We left and both were happy and content. (Grandmother's Helper Switchwords). Thanks Kat, Switchwords Work
